 “現代のデニス・ブラウン”という賛辞を掲げられ、Garnett Silkを筆頭に90年代初期に登場したラスタ・シンガー。メジャーアルバム「Where There Is Life」が大ヒットとなり、注目を浴びる。
“ジャー・メッセンジャー”とも呼ばれ、ジャマイカのコンシャス・レゲエ・ブームの牽引者としてシーンを担ってる需要アーティスト。

“Luciano”は、バリトン・ヴォイスから高名なオペラ歌手から名前を取ってこの名前を名乗るようになり、地元の教会で歌い始めた。11歳の時に亡くなった父の形見であるギターを手にし、音楽の道へ進む。

1992年
4月にキングストンへ移住後、老舗レーベルの Aquariusで初録音を行い、その後もMau MauやNew Name、Freddie McGregorのレーベルBig Shipで録音。
「Ebony & Ivory」をリリースしたが、目立ったヒット曲を発表することはなかった。

1993年
Phillip ‘Fatis’ BurrellのXterminatorで録音するようになり、才能が開花し始める。
初期音源の「Chant Out」や「Poor & Simple」はイギリスのレゲエチャートにもランクインを果たし、同年アルバム「Moving Up」を発表。
Big Shipからのヒット曲「Shake It Up Tonight」(後に同名のアルバムも発表した)のようなラバーズも歌えることを証明後、Xterminator以外にもTaxi、Blacker Dread、古巣Big Shipといったレーベルからヒット曲を制作した。

1994年
ダンスホールにラスタファリアンの影響を織り込んだのはTony RebelやGarnett Silk等のアーティストによって実現されていたが、Garnett Silkが1994年に亡くなったことにより、多くのファンがLucianoにその意思を引き継ぐように願った。

1995年
ボブ・マーリーを世に輩出したイギリスのメジャーレーベル、Chris Blackwellによるレーベル”Island”ジャマイカから大ヒットメジャーアルバム「Where There Is Life」をリリース。

1997年
Islandから”Next DENNIS BRWON”と評された作品2ndアルバム「Messenger」をリリース。

1999年
1994年にアルバム「One Way Ticket」をリリース後、1990年代半ばから後半にかけての彼のレコーディングはXterminaatorレーベルで行うことが多かったが、1999年に袂を分かつことになる。
Xterminatorを離れてからはSizzlaとAnthony Bと共にコンピレーションアルバムをリリースしたり、Jet Star から「Great Controversy」をリリース。

2001年
VP Recordsから有名なサックス奏者Dean Fraserがプロデューサーとして参加した「A New Day」がリリースされた。

2002年
「A new Day」がグラミー賞でBest Reggae Albumにノミネート。
自身のレーベルを設立するなど活動を続けた。

2003年
Exterminatorレーベルを離れたあと、1作目「Serve Jah」をリリース。
UKのトラックメーカーであり、ジャマイカでも人気のMafia & Fluxyがリディムを多く制作しているBlack Scorpioレーベルにサポートを受ける。

2007年
レゲエ音楽への貢献が認められ、優秀勲章を授与される。

2008年
専属バック・バンド(＝Jah Messenger Band)のバンド・マスターも務める、サックス奏者Dean Fraserによるプロデュース「Jah Is My Navigator」をリリース。
大傑作「Serious Times」以来の黄金タッグ復活作品となった。

2009年
USAチャリティーソングであり、マイケルジャクソンへのトリビュートソング、レゲエVer「We are the World」をリリース。

2013年
自身プロデュース「The Qabalah Manをリリース。
…キングストンを拠点にイギリス／ドイツのヨーロッパのシーンとも強いパイプを持つルーツ・ロック・レーベルAL.TA.FA.ANよりジャマイカだけでなく、ヨーロッパの複数のプロデューサーと制作したワン・ドロップ中心の作品となった。
“「QABALAH MAN」とは、自分がこれまでに学んできた哲学の中で辿り着いた、自分自身に対する希望を込めた呼び方。カバラとは古代エジプトの神秘主義から派生した思想で、自己を発見・把握することが人生の究極の目的であることを伝えている。自己を発見・把握するために生きて、歌も歌い続けている”（LUCIANOの本作に向けてのインタビューより）

2016年
アルバム「Zion Awake」がグラミー賞のBest Reggae Albumにノミネート。
その矢先、自身の息子が殺害されイギリスツアーを中止。

近年では「Child Of A King」「Serious Times」といった高評価のアルバムを制作し、人々を魅了している。
